These works of art are woven by the Tonga women of Zambia. The baskets are traditionally used for carrying maize and grains. The Tonga women utilize traditional weaving techniques to create these intricately patterned baskets that take approximately two weeks to make.
These baskets are made from all natural and locally harvested materials such as wild grasses, small vines, and palm leaves dyed with tree bark.
Tonga baskets are an exciting way to bring traditional African crafts into your contemporary home! They look fabulous grouped in clusters and designed patterns as wall art.
